Sizing—for stoma that protrudes
Fecal—size opening of skin barrier 1/8 inch larger than the stoma. May apply paste or ostomy ring to protect the exposed skin.
Urinary—size opening of skin barrier 1/8 inch larger than the stoma. Use skin sealant (example skin prep) to protect exposed skin. Paste melts with urine.
Note that there are skin barriers that are moldable or flexible that can touch the ostomy.
