Skin sealants--used for "sealing" skin barrier powders
May be used under tapes and adhesives.
Protection against moisture example urostomy or solid stool for patients who have colostomies and irrigate.
NOT usually used under the skin barrier and rings. But can be used when skin is very dry or very oily or if patient has friable skin.
Some products are called skin preps, or
barrier films. Use “no-sting” (products
with no alcohol) when using on areas with skin breakdown.
